Accutane & Styes: Real Questions From a We Love Eyes Customer about Stye Cleansing System
Hi! I am so thankful to have found your products! I'm on my 2nd month of Accutane and have been dealing with styes ever since.
I've had very sporadically over the years, but nothing like this. It's been horrible! I got the Stye Cleansing System on Monday and things are already looking and feeling 100x better! So grateful!I was hoping I could get help on some questions about the products though.

1) I double cleanse normally - using an oil cleanser (Prequel Pre-Gleanse Oil Cleanser) and then I use TahNYC Gentle Everyday Cleanser. So, do I still do that all over including eyes, and then use your eyelid cleansing oil + eyelid foaming cleanser. Or do I just avoid my eyes when using my normal cleansing routine and then ONLY use the eyelid cleansing oil + eyelid foaming cleanser on my eyes?
I love the double cleanse method for washing eyes and face! Excellent work. With Accutane, we always want to be mindful and respect the eyelid skin barrier. Here are 2 ways:
EYES BEFORE FACE: Do the We Love Eyes cleansing oil then the foaming cleanser followed by your face cleansing oil then cleanser. Just avoid the eye area when washing the face.
SIMPLIFY IT: During your Accutane journey, the tea tree oil will help not just your eyes, but your face too. Use We Love Eyes cleansing oil then foaming cleanser for eyes and face at the same time.

2) The kit suggests using the eye roller first -> scrub/oil -> cleanse steps. However, if I have makeup on, where does the eye roller fit in the steps?
I always encourage my parents to make their eye care routine their own over time. Here is a good starting point for a case like this.
REMOVE ALL MAKEUP: Use the We Love Eyes cleansing oil to remove all eye and face makeup at the same time. Use a large sized cotton pad to do this.
NOW THE DIRTY WORK: With clean eyes and a clean face, you're ready to do the ROLL and SCRUB/OIL steps.
WASH OFF: After the precision work with the roller and scrub brush on the eyelid margins, use the We Love Eyes foaming cleanser to wash off the eyes and face.
SPRAY IT SPOTLESS: Spray the eye and face area with Calm. The hypocholorous is beneficial for the face skin as it's going through the Accutane journey.

3) After using the Mini Eyelid Scrub Mitt and Eyelid Margin Scrub brush there is obviously mascara residue, so I used the eyelid foaming cleanser to wash them and hot water. Is that correct? Or what should I be using to clean them? I noticed sometimes tiny flecks of mascara get stuck in the tools. What do you suggest to remove that?
Yes you are doing that exactly right. You may have to repeat the wash if there is heavy makeup. Use clean fingertips & fingernails. Really get in there to clean the brushes as needed.
4) After cleaning the tools, what is the best way to store them while they dry out but also keep them protected from contaminants? Also, how do you suggest storing them?
Towel and let the brushes air dry. They can rest on a clean face towel until the next use. Alternatively, you can store Eyelid Margin Scrub Brush upright in a cometic brush type jar. If you're very concerned about contamination, the brushes can always be washed before use, but I do find that excessive - although many of my parents insist on being excessive and that's okay too!

STYE CLEANSING SYSTEM STEPS
1) Warm Compress & Massage: Heat is your friend. Use Focused Eye Roll for 30 seconds a day soften and slowly drain debris. Repeat 30 second sessions during the day as needed. Spread the sessions apart so the eyelid skin doesn't become damaged.
2) Gentle Eyelid Scrub: Add 1 drop of Tea Tree (brown label) or Rosemary (green label) Eyelid & Eyelash Cleansing Oil on Eyelid Margin Scrub Brush. Gently scrub along the eyelid margin to keep an exit site open for debris to drain. The body will want to heal itself. Without an exit site, the debris will likely pop through the eyelid and we don't want that.
3) Foaming Lid Cleanser: Finish the double cleanse Tea Tree (blue label) or SuperGLA (purple label) Eyelid & Eyelash Foaming Cleanser to wash away any drainage material.
4) Spray it Spotless: Spray Calm or Tea Tree Water Eyelid & Eyelash Spray to keep the area completely spotless. The hypochlorous will clean away bacteria and also work to limit cross-contamination between eyelids.
2 BRAINS ARE ALWAYS BETTER THAN 1
After reading this, make sure to run this by your dermatologist for approval. Every case is different and there are exceptions to every case. Also eyes like this should be followed by a Dry Eye Specialist Optometrist. Sometimes meibomian gland extractions and/or energy device is needed to properly manage the eye especially if there are symptoms of feeling more dry.
